Handmade with love. Made is something of a hidden gem, despite having collaborated on jewellery and accessory collections with high profile designers at Louis Vuitton and Topshop. Their understated nature compliments the ethos behind the company – fair, sustainable and made by hand. Each piece Made creates is beautiful and one of a kind, hence the importance of a Magento site to communicate this.
A photo shoot with a new direction for Made helped to shape initial ideas surrounding design. A mix of raw materials, urban spaces and a reflection of contemporary trends was what Made needed to stand out, bringing them in line with their competitors. What followed was a photography-focused homepage, bringing in unusual elements that showed Made’s personality.
It was imperative to tell the story of Made in a way that set them apart from other Fair Trade suppliers, evoking feelings of creativity and modernity. Image-led mega drop-down menus and striking banners ensured the beauty of the products were always present.
The deadline was extremely tight, but together we ensured made.uk.com was live before Christmas 2013. The reception was brilliant and things with Made are continuing to evolve at a fast pace. Next up are plans for a whole new mobile site, to compliment the current responsive platform.
